Avatar/One Piece cross-over part 1: The Strawhat pirates (1/2)

Hello! I'm here to present the first part of this cross-over with Avatar and One Piece. There will be 4 sections. Why they are X bender, why they live in X, Their story and What their clothes might look like. Story will explain what might've changed or what has not changed.

When I talk about character such as Ace and Sabo, they will have their own section in the up coming blogs of the cross-over.

Note: The Fire nation never attacked. In later blogs, it will seem more like it is a mix of One Piece, The Last Airbender and The Legend of Korra.

Why is he an Earth bender?

Luffy's fighting style fits Earth bending more then Air bending. Also most Earth benders are hard-headed. Also Earth benders are much more destructive then Air benders. Though Air benders can suffocate you, but that's unLuffy-like.

Why does he live in the Fire Nation?

Because the Fire Nation stands for pride. Luffy isn't proud of his nation, but of himself, his strength, his friends, his family and his nakama.

What about his story?

Luffy will act the same even with the pressure that he is the Avatar. He doesn't care about bringing balance to the world or be a Hero. Though he still saves people. He'll be a pirate like in canon.

When he was a kid, he lived in one of the forests in the Fire nation with his brothers. He excels in Earth bending, but has a hard time learning how to Fire bend. He burns Sabo accidently before the boy gets found out and brought back to his parents. Luffy regrets what he has done to the blonde, especially the one believed to be a non-bender. For a long while he never Fire bends even if needed to. 6 months after whole Sabo accident, he allmost got taken by the Red Lotus, but Garp decided to relocate both Luffy and Ace to a different forest and didn't bother giving them a decent house since he was in a hurry.

Later he finds out that he also has a hard time bending air. Nothing happens when he tries. He's confused as to why it didn't work immidiantly like his Fire bending or at least like his Water bending when he did the right fighting style it worked. But still...Nothing happened...

When he is 17 and setting out he can Earth bend and Water bend, Water bending isn't as good as his Earth bending, and his Fire bending seems unexisting because of his mental block.

What about his clothing?

He still has his strawhat, but he looks like he has mixed Water Tribe, Fire nation and Earth Kingdom clothes. His sash is from the Earth kingdom

and his vest from the Fire nation.

His pants would be from the Water Tribe.

How he looks in the picture might be what he wears later on. Maybe, in the ARC where the Red Lotus fully appeares or even later.

Why is he a non-bender?

Zoro wouldn't really make use of his katanas if he could bend. And Zoro doesn't really have a fighting style that goes with the bending styles.

Why does he live in Air Nomads?

His personality goes along with how some of the monks acted. And it would be the perfect place to train for 10 years and then get lost and end up in the Fire Nation.

What about his story?

He went all the way alone to the Southern Air Temple to be trained. Too bad, he didn't get an air bison. He trained there to become stronger and gets a rivalry with Kuina who's also non-bender like him. Kuina dies like normal. Extra issue would be she's born without Air bending while her father can do it.

Being raised in the Air Temples made Zoro calmer then before and also find inner peace. But he only has it for a short while because Luffy will crash into his life. Things go as usual, but more on land.

What about his clothes?

In the beginning, he will wear Air bender clothes. Something similar as Aang.

But later he gets something similiar to his normal clothes because he'll wear Earth Kingdom clothes.

Why is she an Air bender?

I didn't make her a Fire bender to bend lightning, because she would straight up die. Especially if someone like Marco was left half dead when he saved Thatch from being hit by lightning. And Water bending wasn't chosen because I'm more focused on her weather abilities. I just didn't want to have 50 Water benders running with the main characters.

Why does she live in Earth Kingdom?

The Earth Kingdom will be one of the starting places. First a small part of the Fire Nation and then the Earth Kingdom will have the first major ARCs. She was an Air bender in the Air Normads, but since a war had happen by one of the Air Temples. Bellemere found an Air bender and a Water bender there.

What about her story?

So like I said before she was found by Bellemere who's a Fire bender and Noijko is a water bender. Most things go the same as normal. Arlong is also a Water bender. She'll learn how to move the clouds to recreate her weather Powers. But she doesn't have the skills to semi-fly since she doesn't have the equipment.

What about her clothes?

She would also have similiar close like Zoro, but hers would be more feminine and more revealing. She would get her staf to fly with post-timeskip and Luffy would get one a lot later then that.

Why is he a non-bender?

I want to make him a non-bender, because he would be super insecure if his best friend is the Avatar and that all the non-benders have special skills while he thinks he doesn't have one.

Why would he live in the Earth Kingdom?

It is East Blue in a way, but at the same time it isn't. The Earth Kingdom has the most non-benders. It would be the best place to practice his sniping skills with all the plaines and plateaus.

What about his story?

He'll be like the Sokka of the group, but more lying.

First, he's comical relief, but later he grows into a leader. His past happens like normal. He'll be more insecure about himself like I said before. He wants to be a bender to be usefull, but bending isn't given, it is what your born with it.

What would his clothes be?

He would wear the traditional Earth Kingdom clothes and later he'll look closer to his canon design.

Nothern Water Tribe

Why is he a Fire bender?

Diable Jambe is why he would be a Fire bender.

Also his burning passion for women.

Why would he have lived in the Nothern Water Tribe?

Because of North Blue. It is one of coldest place in the world. Also the more rich People live that Water bend live there.

What about his story?

Everything goes like normal. He ends up in the Fire nation and gets taught by Zeff how control his bending better and how to cook. Zeff himself is a Fire bender, but he mostly uses it for cooking.

His brothers all get their own bending. Ichiji can Fire bend, Niji can Lightning bend, Yonji can Earth bend and Reiju can Air bend. Judge is a Fire bender and Sora was a Water bender.

They all are from the Nothern Water Tribe and Judge married into the rich family to get the money for his experiments.

What about his clothes?

He looks like he does normally, but more like the Fire nation look.

Gotta say, these blogs take a lot of energy from me and that isn't healthy, but at least I'm happy with it. Sometimes it is hard to come up with a reason for why they are X bender or where they live.
